In 2005, the Kansas City T-Bones shattered their per-game attendance record, averaging 5,555 fans per game, fourth in all of independent baseball. That�s a tough act to follow, but the fourth season of �Fun, Well Done!� promises to be more of a hit than the first three, as the Kansas City T-Bones host 48 regular-season home games as well as the Northern League�s mid-summer classic. The home regular season opens on Tuesday, May 23, when the T-Bones host the Joliet JackHammers at 7:05 pm.

Greg Bicknell, who won sixteen games in 2005 to set a Northern League record, was selected Thursday as one of four starting pitchers on the Baseball America All-Independent team. Bicknell was one of six Northern Leaguers on the first team, which represents six independent leagues; the six Northern Leaguers was the most selections of any independent league.

In many ways, the 2005 Kansas City T-Bones season mirrored their 2004 campaign. The T-Bones were one of the hottest teams in the league in the second half of 2004, heading to the playoffs for the first time in their history; in 2005, the first half of the season was the better of the two. One thing that has been consistent in the last three seasons, however, is the strong fan base the T-Bones have established. 2005 saw the T-Bones increase their attendance by almost 10%, to 5,555 per game.

The Fargo Moorhead RedHawks scored seven runs in the 1st inning and went on to a 13-6 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs Saturday afternoon to win the 2005 Northern League North Division Series, three games to one. Eric Kofler (pictured at right) continued his playoff surge with three rbi in the RedHawks victory. In the South Division Playoff, the Gary SouthShore RailCats defeated the St. Paul Saints, 1-0 on Saturday night to force a fifth and deciding game on Sunday in Gary.

The Calgary Vipers scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to take a 6-5 lead over the Kansas City T-Bones at Foothills Stadium in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The two runs made a winner of Viper reliever Cody Cillo (W, 4-2) and sent the T-Bones and Vipers home for the winter with two streaks - for the T-Bones, a four game losing skein, and for the Vipers, a six-game run.

The Kansas City T-Bones bid farewell to a fan favorite in righthander Caleb Balbuena. Balbuena, out of Tuolumne, Cal., was signed by the T-Bones out of open tryouts in 2004, but left the team before the season was over due to soreness in his right elbow. Balbuena was back for 2005, showing the mid-90's fastball that impressed in tryouts; the fastball influenced scouts for the Colorado Rockies to sign Balbuena on Thursday. He'll report to Class A Modesto of the California League.
