Seven-Game Homestand Starts Tonight!

06/24/2005 1:10 PM - The Kansas City T-Bones (18-13) return to CommunityAmerica Ballpark to open a seven-game homestand starting tonight. The T-Bones will start off with a three-game set against the Gary SouthShore RailCats (19-13) this evening at 7:05 before hosting the defending Northern League Champs St. Paul Saints (20-12) for a four-game series beginning Monday.

Friday night's match-up is the first regular season meeting between the T-Bones and RailCats. Gary enters tonight's contest one-game ahead of the T-Bones and in second place in the South Divison as well as winners of seven of their last 10 ballgames. The RailCats are lead by offensive juggernaut Jason Colson. The first baseman leads his team average (.324), hits (34), doubles (9), homers (6) and RBI (21). Gary also sports the league's lowest team ERA with a nifty 3.79 mark.

Kansas City returns to CommunityAmerica Ballpark fresh off a seven-game road trip. The team split a four-game set with Winnipeg and won the middile game against Sioux Falls. Newcomer Greg Jacobs has been a pleasant surpirse during his short time with the T-Bones. Jacobs has socked three home runs and has five RBI's in just 10 at-bats. The outfielder spent last season splitting time with AA Antonio and AAA Tacoma in the Seattle Mariners organization. However, the recent success is no suprise to him as evidenced by last season's statisitcs in which he hit .314 with 14 home runs and 61 RBI's.

Beginning with tonight's series against Gary, don't miss out on the upcoming promotions at the ballpark! For the entire Gary series, the T-Bones pay homage to Vietnam War Veterans with the Salute to Vietnam Veterans Weekend. Free tickets to Vietnam Veterans all weekend long, 2-for-1 general admission tickets to all veterans and a number of salutes to those who have helped keep our country free! Discounts given with valid identification.

Also, tonight is Eddie Pearson Bobblehead Night presented by Cabela's and also Dodge Viper Night. On Saturday, don't forget the Post-Game Fireworks presented by Roger Smith and Sons Toyota and Metro Sports and the Hummer of Kansas City vehicle display. Remember that Sunday is a Senior Sunday ($1 off admission 55+) presented by Humana and the fun continues after the game when Kids Run the Bases sponsored by Bob Evans.
