Four-Run Eighth Helps Lincoln Top T-Bones, 5-3

08/11/2005 9:58 PM - The Lincoln Saltdogs scored four times in the bottom of the eighth inning against three Kansas City T-Bone pitchers, giving the first-place Saltdogs a 5-2 lead over the T-Bones. Kansas City scored once in the bottom of the ninth and left the tying runs on base for their second straight 5-3 loss to Lincoln.

T-Bone starter David Viane and Lincoln righty Rodney Myers (W, 8-3) hooked up for a pitcher's duel, with Viane working 7 1/3 innings of two-run baseball and Myers allowing just two runs to the T-Bones in his eight innings of work. Myers allowed the first two runs of the game to the T-Bones in the fourth inning, with back-to-back run-scoring singles by Ray Brown and David Segui giving the T-Bones a 2-0 lead.

Lincoln scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the inning when Josh Patton's single to right-center scored Bryan Warner, who had also singled. Viane settled down after that, allowing just one hit until the eighth-inning double by Albenis Machado sent Viane to the showers.

Viane gave way to reliever Mike Cosgrove (L, 0-1), who walked Bryan Warner and allowed run-scoring singles to Pichi Balet and Josh Patton to give Lincoln a 3-2 lead. Two batters after Patton's single, Jonathan Krysa allowed a two-run double to Kevin Sullivan to give Lincoln a comfortable cushion and give Myers his eighth win of the season.

Kansas City scored in the ninth on a pinch-single by Cody Nowlin against reliever Wes O'Brien (S, 2), but left the tying runs on base in the final frame.

The T-Bones return home for their longest homestand of the season, ten games, starting Friday night. Joe Gannon makes his debut for the T-Bones against St. Paul Saint Mike Meyer in a 7:05 start.
