Kansas City, Kan - After Saturday night's game was suspended by rain, it was the T-Bones who poured on the runs taking the first game of the split, 12-5 over the Schaumburg Flyers. In the second game, rookie third baseman Brandon Jones hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the eleventh to win it for the T-Bones, 2-1, and capped their first series sweep of the season. KC now sits atop the South Division with an 11-5 overall record.

Down 4-3 in the fifth inning, KC scored six runs on seven hits in the frame. Eddie Pearson and Cody Nowlin connected on back-to-back shots and Chad Sosebee's two-run homer highlighted the inning that saw the T-Bones grab a five-run advantage. The runs were more than enough support for the gritty T-Bone relief corps. Righty David Viane picked up where starter Caleb Balbuena left off, earning the victory by working two innings while allowing just one run. Southpaw J.C. Ortiz followed Viane's act with an two innings of solid relief and did not allow a run. The T-Bones scored three insurance runs in the seventh. The 12 runs and 18 hits are T-Bone season highs.

The second game of the split offered a classic pitcher's duel. In a scheduled seven-inning game, the contest went eleven. Veteran righty Greg Bicknell pitched eight strong innings allowing one run. Not to be outdueled, Flyer starter Matt Bailie worked seven innings of one-run ball. The T-Bones' first run came in the sixth slugger Eddie Pearson hit his first triple of the season and later scored on a Brandon Jones triple. Ahead going into the seventh and eyeing the shutout, Bicknell surrendered a lead-off home-run to Josue Lopez. It was Lopez's third home run of the evening after smacking two in the first game. Pitching and defense took over from there as goose eggs filled the board until the eleventh. Former T-Bone hurler John Howerton held the T-Bones scoreless in the tenth, but gave up the walk-off homer to Jones to end the game. Jones once again came through in the clutch driving in both runs for KC and securing the club's fifth consecutive victory. Reliever Joe Goodmann was credited for the victory in relief.
