Hot Stove Heating Up For T-Bones

01/14/2005 7:51 AM - KANSAS CITY – It’s cold in Kansas City, but things are sure heating up for the T-Bones and manager “Dirty” Al Gallagher. On Thursday, the T-Bones traded utilityman Mike Hass to the River City Rascals of the Frontier League for outfielder Josh Ury.

Ury, 26, will be entering his fourth season of professional baseball. A native of Parsippany, NJ, he played his college ball at Winthrop (SC) University before entering the ranks of pro ball. In three seasons in the independent Frontier League, Ury has hit .300 with eighteen homers and 135 RBI in 251 games, stealing 39 bases along the way. In 2004, Ury hit .282 with a career-high 15 longballs and 54 RBI in 90 games for River City.

The other party in the trade, Hass, was signed by the T-Bones on June 25 out of Oregon State University. Hass signed a three-day contract to play left field and remained on the roster for the rest of the season, hitting .211 with a home run and seven RBI in 114 at-bats while also filling in at third base.

“Josh Ury is a young outfielder who has proven himself in the Frontier League and we hope he will be able to do the job here in Kansas City,” said Gallagher. “We hate to lose a guy like Mike Hass but he’ll get an opportunity to play every day with River City.”
