"You are cordially invited..."

05/20/2005 6:51 AM - KANSAS CITY - Weddings are a hot topic in Kansas these days. The Kansas City T-Bones are getting into the act with a wedding of their own, set for this Saturday, May 21, 2005 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. There's not even a guest list controversy, as all fans in attendance will be a part of the ceremony! (Don't worry, you don't have to bring a gift.)

That night, the Kansas City T-Bones are set to take on the Edmonton Cracker-Cats. Before the 7:05 pm game, Becky Fugate and Dan Hart, both of Kansas City, KS, will be wed on the field. The newly married couple’s recessional will not be down the aisle, but rather through an arch of bats held up by T-Bones players and members of Hart’s softball team. The newlyweds will then head up to the Buck O’Neil suite, where a small reception will take place. In the seventh inning, all fans in attendance will participate in a toast to the couple.

The future Mr. and Mrs. Hart were engaged at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, and because the stadium holds such special meaning to them it will be a perfect location for their nuptials. As well, they are both huge fans of the T-Bones!

The T-Bones open their 2005 season tonight at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The opening game - Friday, May 20 - will pit righty Jonathan Krysa against Edmonton Cracker-Cats lefty Mike Kusiewicz. Prior to the game, there will be a Harley-Davidson parade on the field, recognition of T-Bones record setters and league leaders from 2004, hoisting of the 2004 South Division Second-Half Champion flag, and skydivers presented by Gomez Concessions. Fans will also receive a 2005 magnet schedule courtesy of Reece and Nichols Zeller Team.

Saturday night, in addition to the aforementioned wedding, the T-Bones will send 2004 wins leader Greg Bicknell to the bump against Edmonton starter Ira Brown. After the game, fans in attendance will celebrate the nuptials with a fireworks show presented by Metro Sports and Roger Smith and Sons Toyota.

The T-Bones will close their brief homestand Sunday night at 5:05, when righty Jon McDonald will take on Cracker-Cat Roberto Avilez. All fans 55 and over will receive a senior discount on any ticket courtesy of Humana, and after the game kids will be invited to run the bases courtesy of Bob Evans. It's a great time for Grandma and Grandpa to take the grandkids to a ballgame!

After Sunday night's game, the T-Bones will hit the road to Joliet and St. Paul. They'll return home on May 31 for a 7:05 pm game against the Lincoln Saltdogs.
