Bad News Bears Salute Friday Night

07/14/2005 11:52 AM - In the original movie "The Bad News Bears," Coach Morris Buttermaker says to one of his ballplayers "This quitting thing is a hard habit to break once you start." The Kansas City T-Bones hope to channel some of the wisdom of Buttermaker as they host a Bad News Bears Night Friday, July 15, at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Immediately following the game, the 1976 original “Bad News Bears” with Walter Matthau and Tatum O’Neal will be shown for free on the video board. Prizes from the movie will be given away throughout the evening. The new movie is rated PG-13 and stars Billy Bob Thornton, Marcia Gay Harden and Greg Kinnear. The 2005 version opens in theaters July 22.

Little Leaguers in uniform will receive one free general admission ticket to Friday night's game.

"Dirty" Al Gallagher will not, however, ask the T-Bones who they are playing that night, wait for the response "The Schaumburg Flyers," ask his team what that means, and hear "Bad News for the Flyers!"

This promotion opens an exciting weekend series. For tickets, call (913)328-BALL or visit tbonesbaseball.com.
