The Kansas City T-Bones exploded for five runs in the fourth inning to stake starter Greg Bicknell to a 5-0 lead. The Joliet JackHammers plated three in their half of the frame, but they wouldn’t get any closer in the game as Bicknell won his 114th game as a professional and second of the season, 5-3.

Every T-Bone in the lineup had at least one hit with the exception of slugger Eddie Pearson. Leading the way were Chad Sosebee, who doubled three times, including a two-run double in the fourth inning, and Mike Brown, who had three base knocks in the game.

With the exception of the fourth inning, Bicknell was at his best, retiring thirteen of the last fifteen batters he faced. In the fourth, Bicknell allowed run-scoring singles to Matt McCay and John Lackaff as well as a double by Jim Kavourias that resulted in a run. Bicknell worked eight innings, striking out six and allowing just six hits.

The T-Bones got all of their runs in the fourth inning, with the first one scoring when Chad Hill, who had singled, scored from first on a single by Ray Brown and an error by right fielder Josh Loggins. Cody Nowlin and Brandon Jones followed with run-scoring singles and Sosebee’s double completed the scoring for the T-Bones.

Derek Forbes allowed two hits in the ninth, but worked a scoreless frame to earn his third save of the season. The split in the series improves the T-Bones’ record to 4-3 on the season, while Joliet falls to 4-3 overall.

Notes: The T-Bones were swept at Joliet, June 6-9, in 2004… Ray Brown, who missed last night’s game, had two hits in the game… Sosebee’s three doubles were one short of the season total coming into the game, and his four doubles are 57% of the team’s total… Mike Brown and Sosebee’s three-hit games were both season highs for the T-Bones… the T-Bones, after striking out at least ten times in each of the first three games of the series, whiffed just six times tonight… starter Mike Wodnicki allowed ten hits in 5.1 innings for the JackHammers…
