KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Chris Krawczyk (pictured) and the Kansas City T-Bones defeated the Schaumburg Flyers 10-3 on the hurler’s 24th birthday in front of 7,582 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Kenny Durost started and allowed the only two Flyer hits of the game in his four innings.  The T-Bones used a perfect five innings of relief work to earn the win against the Flyers.

A two-out RBI single from Kansas City second basemen Rob Watson broke a sixth inning tie and put the T-Bones up for good as starter Kenny Durost, and long relievers Chris Krawczyk and Lavon Lewis had solid outings, combining to hold Schaumburg to just two earned runs.  

Demitrius Heath gave the Flyers the first lead as he led off the game with a single to left and took second on a fielding error by Al Benjamin. He would later score on a sacrifice fly from Christian Snavely. Heath had the Flyers’ only two hits of the game.

In the third, the Flyers added to their lead when Alexander Derhak led off with a walk and scored on a sacrifice fly by Mike Rohde. First baseman Pat O’Sullivan then got on with a two-out walk and sent Heath home when he got in a rundown while trying to steal second, allowing Heath to score before he was tagged out.

Kansas City responded in the bottom of the inning with two runs on a double by Rob Watson and a sacrifice fly from Benjamin, pulling within one.  The T-bones then tied the game in the fifth when Benjamin crossed home on a Neb Brown single to right.

Kansas City broke the tie in the sixth when Patrick Arlis singled and moved around to score on a two-out RBI single from Watson. The T-Bones then broke the game open in the seventh, scoring four runs on four singles before adding two more in the eighth. Watson came in to pitch the ninth with a seven run lead and retired all three batters he faced, striking out two.

Game Notes:  Rob Watson has reached base safely in all 30 home games at CommunityAmerica Ballpark this season, tops in the Northern League …For the first time since moving to Kansas City, the home attendance average per game is over 6,000 fans, as it sits at 6,001 per game so far this season…The T-Bones collected their first back-to-back wins since June 27-28 where they defeated Edmonton on back-to-back nights, the last time they did it at home was June 5-7 where they had a three-game sweep over Gary…Pitchers Kenny Durost, Chris Krawczyk, Lavon Lewis and Rob Watson combined to retire 16 batters in a row from the fourth inning until the end of the game…For the second straight night, the T-Bones scored ten unanswered runs to take home the victory…Krawczyk celebrated his birthday and earned the winning decision…Only one of Kansas City’s hits went for extra bases, Watson’s double in the third.
