Last night the T-Bones couldn�t muster a single run in last five innings in eventually losing to Joliet 9-3. However, on a beautiful Sunday evening in front of 5,783, the T-Bones had no problems regaining their offensive prowess in routing the JackHammers 14-1 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The win allowed the T-Bones to take three of four from Joliet before embarking on their longest road trip of the season that will take them to Gary, Joliet and Lincoln.

After eight consecutive losses, things finally went right for the Joliet JackHammers as they beat the T-Bones 9-3 Saturday night in front of 7,534 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. On paper, a ninth straight defeat seemed likely as Joliet�s Damien Myers (W, 2-7) was facing T-Bones all-star and eleven-game winner Greg Bicknell (L, 11-3). But despite 8 1/3 solid innings from the league leader in wins, Joliet jumped on the T-Bones bullpen in winning for the first time since July 17.

The Kansas City T-Bones bid farewell to a fan favorite in righthander Caleb Balbuena. Balbuena, out of Tuolumne, Cal., was signed by the T-Bones out of open tryouts in 2004, but left the team before the season was over due to soreness in his right elbow. Balbuena was back for 2005, showing the mid-90's fastball that impressed in tryouts; the fastball influenced scouts for the Colorado Rockies to sign Balbuena on Thursday. He'll report to Class A Modesto of the California League.

The Joliet JackHammers (2-10) and T-Bones (5-8) will square off beginning tonight in game one of a four-game set that runs through Sunday. The series is the last for the T-Bones during their current seven-game homestand before departing on their longest road trip of the season. After Sunday, the T-Bones will travel to Gary, Joliet and Lincoln to play their Southern Division foes and will not return to CommunityAmerica Ballpark until Friday, August 12.

Baseball great Tug McGraw coined the phrase �Ya Gotta Believe� during the Mets' 1973 season. He carried that belief with him during his 10-month fight against a malignant brain tumor. He lost that fight on January 5, 2004. The Kansas City T-Bones believe they can pay homage to McGraw and local brain tumor survivors while raising awareness and funds to fight brain tumors.

Both the Saltdogs and JackHammers are Southern Divison foes and will be battling the T-Bones for the final coveted playoff spot for the team with the division�s best second-half record.

SCHAUMBURG, IL - Schaumburg Flyers starter Matt Bailie rebounded from a difficult start last time and turned in eight solid innings as the Flyers beat the Kansas City T-Bones 6-3 at Alexian Field on Saturday night. The Flyers improve to 5-4 in the second half and 21-36 overall. The T-Bones drop to 3-6 and 30-25 overall. Schaumburg is one-half game behind Lincoln for first place in the South Division second half race.

Drew Garner, fresh off a college career at Southern Arkansas, made his professional debut for the T-Bones in the final game of the series and was rudely welcomed by the bats of the Flyers in his 1 2/3 innings pitched. The rookie allowed eight runs on seven hits and struck out one in his debut.

But Mike Brown will take it just the same, as the Kansas City T-Bones second baseman homered to left against Sioux City Explorer reliever Sean Kramer in the top of the fourteenth inning to stake the T-Bones to a 9-7 lead and keep the T-Bones in first place.

Once the first inning was done in Sioux City, much of the excitement for Explorer fans watching Friday night's game stemmed from the attempt to set a record for the most fans simultaneously performing the Macarena. The attempt, while successful, still needs to be approved; what doesn't need to be approved is the 4-2 win for the Kansas City T-Bones, which allowed them to move 1/2 game ahead of St. Paul into first place in the South Division with eight to play in the first half.
