KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Kansas City rallied from an early four-run deficit, scoring 10 unanswered runs en route to a 14-8 victory over Schaumburg Flyers in front of 6,786 fans at Community America Ballpark.

T-Bones starter Jonathan Krysa (pictured) snapped a personal seven-game losing streak in the process, allowing five earned runs on eight hits with one strikeout and a career-high eight walks in seven innings.

Schaumburg struck first in the top of the second to make the score 1-0, but Kansas City answered in the bottom half of the inning on Al Benjamin’s solo home run that knotted the score at one apiece.

After the Flyers squeezed out four runs without collecting a hit in the top of the third, Kansas City responded with a three-run bottom half of the inning on a pair of RBI doubles by Mario Delgado and Benjamin. Neb Brown’s RBI single capped off the scoring and brought Kansas City within one at 5-4.

Following a two-run top of the inning by Schaumburg, the seesaw battle continued in the bottom of the fifth when Calvin Pickering hit his ninth home run of the year, this one a two-run shot that lowered Kansas City’s deficit to one.

The T-Bones tied the game at seven in the sixth on Delgado’s RBI single before Pickering drew a walk with the bases loaded to give Kansas City their first lead of the game, 8-7. The T-Bones managed to score three more runs in the inning without recording a hit, raising their lead to four.

Kansas City tacked on three more runs in the eighth on three consecutive RBI doubles by Brown, Pickering and Arlis that put the game out of reach 14-7.

Travis Schlichting pitched a scoreless eighth, allowing one hit with no walks and no strikeouts. Danny Core came in to pitch the ninth, allowing one unearned run on one hit while striking out the side.

The teams face off tomorrow with Kenny Durost going for Kansas City versus Drew Dickinson for the Flyers.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
