KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones struggled to find an answer versus Joliet pitching tonight, collecting just four hits in a 5-2 loss in front of 6,083 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The T-Bones jumped ahead in the first as Neb Brown lined a two-out RBI single to right that scored shortstop Geoff McCallum from third. Joliet answered quickly in the next half inning when starter Trevor Caughey gave up a three-run homer with two outs to Chris Brown.

Brown again came around to hurt Kansas City in the fourth as he doubled in catcher Dennis Blackmon and left fielder Kevin Sullivan.  Lavon Lewis relieved Caughey in the fifth and got out of a bases-loaded jam, leaving the score at 5-1. The T-Bones cut the lead in the bottom of the inning when Rob Watson walked, stole second and came around to score on an Al Benjamin single.

Danny Core relieved Lewis in the seventh with two runners on and one out and allowed just one of the inherited runs to score. Matt Schweitzer followed him to pitch a perfect ninth. Brian Forystek left after six innings of work where he scattered four hits and two runs, one earned. Derek Ellison came in and retired all batters he saw and Aaron Williams finished the ninth. Joliet pitchers retired the final 13 batters they faced and struck out 11 total on the night.

Game Notes: Rob Watson has reached base safely in all 26 home games at CommunityAmerica Ballpark this season, tops in the Northern League…Joliet second baseman Chris Brown got some revenge against the Kansas City T-Bones Tuesday night as he responded with a five-RBI night after being hit by three pitches last night…The 6,083 attendance marked the largest Tuesday attendance of the 2007 season.
