T-Bones Look to Shore Up Defense with Arlis

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones and manager Andy McCauley have announced the signing of catcher Patrick Arlis.

Arlis, 26, has spent the last five seasons in the Florida Marlins organization after being drafted by the team in 2002.  He has spent the majority of this season with Carolina of the Class AA Southern League, playing one game in Class AAA Albuquerque.  Arlis hit a career best .270 in 47 games with Jamestown in 2002.  He set a career high of six home runs with Jupiter in 2005.

“We look for Arlis to help shore up our defense behind the plate,” said McCauley.  “He’s an experienced catcher who will work with our pitching staff and allow us to use Nelson Gord in a different role.  Any contribution offensively will be a bonus as we are mainly concerned with his defensive effort.”

Arlis is scheduled to be in the lineup for Kansas City tonight versus the Winnipeg Goldeyes.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
