KANSAS CITY, Kan. – What appeared to be an easy victory for Fargo-Moorhead early on became an extra-inning thriller as Rob Watson’s (pictured) single in the tenth capped off a late-inning rally in Kansas City’s 9-8 victory in front of 6,775 fans.

Mike Just homered in the top of the tenth off Brett Reid to put the RedHawks ahead 8-7 before Watson answered in the bottom of the frame.  Nelson Gord began the rally with a one-out double before advancing to third on a balk by Nate Cotton. Gord would later score on Geoff McCallum’s single to even the score at eight.  Then, after an intentional walk to Aharon Eggleston, Rob Watson hit one over the fence in right-center but stopped at first, driving in the winning run with a single for his second game-winning hit of 2007.  Cotton was credited with the loss for the RedHawks.

The comeback was made possible after Mario Delgado capped off his three-for-five night with an RBI single in the ninth that drove in Eggleston for his third run of the game. Pickering had a chance to end the game with one on and two outs, but grounded out to second base.
 
After surrendering a home run to Just in the top of the tenth, Reid finished the inning having allowed one run on two hits to improve to 3-3 on the season.

Fargo took an early 1-0 lead off T-Bones starter Kenny Durost on a solo home run by Tydus Meadows in the first.  Durost lasted seven innings while allowing six runs on 11 hits while striking out four and walking four.

Kansas City tied the game in the bottom half of the first when Aharon Eggleston scored after Mario Delgado grounded into a double play.  Eggleston’s went three-for-four on the night to extend his hitting streak to 11 games and on-base streak to 18.

Fargo scored four unanswered runs before Calvin Pickering’s two-run home run in the fourth brought the T-Bones within two at 5-3.  Pickering factored into another T-Bones run in the sixth with a double, later scoring on Nelson Gord’s RBI triple.  Kansas City tied the game the following inning on Mario Delgado’s RBI double to make it 6-6.

Travis Schlichting pitched one-third of an inning, giving up one run on one hit while walking one. Matt Schweitzer went one and two-thirds innings of perfect baseball, striking out two.

Game Notes:  During Eggleston’s 11-game hitting streak, the slugger is hitting 19-for-42 (.452) with 11 runs, seven stolen bases and four extra-base hits.  His two stolen bases tonight raised his season total to 16, one shy of the team record set by Rick Prieto in 2004…Calvin Pickering’s two-run home run in the fourth ended a personal 14-game home run drought, his longest of the season.  Pickering has gone five-for-nine over the last two games with one double, one home run, four RBI and has raised his average from .230 to .263…Austin Easley’s zero-for-four night added to his recent struggles at the plate. Easley is currently in a three-for-32 (.094) slump with three RBI, two runs scored and zero extra-base hits…Mario Delgado has now hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games with nine extra-base hits, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored. Delgado is yet to hitless in consecutive games this season (33 games)…Kansas City’s victory improved their record to 1-2 on Friday’s at home and 2-5 overall on the sixth day of the week.
