JOLIET, Ill. – Thanks to a three-RBI night from Mario Delgado (pictured) and three stellar innings of work from their bullpen, the Kansas City T-Bones prevented a sweep by the Joliet JackHammers with a 7-4 win at Silver Cross Field.

Kansas City took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an infield single by Neb Brown that scored Aharon Eggleston who led off the contest with a walk.  Eggleston got into position for Brown when he advanced to third on a throwing error by Joliet starter Matt Smith on a sacrifice bunt attempt from Rob Watson.  Smith would suffer the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits in six and two-thirds innings of work.

The JackHammers answered with two runs in their half of the first off T-Bones starter Anthony Boughner on an RBI single from Juan Diaz and a sacrifice fly by Chad Ehrnsberger.  Both teams put runners on base in the second inning but both lined into double plays to negate their respective opportunities.

The T-Bones took the lead back in the third inning on a two-run home run by Mario Delgado, scoring Eggleston for the second time in the game.  Delgado would drive in his third run of the contest in the fifth inning, plating Eggleston with a single to give Kansas City a 4-2 advantage.

Joliet added a run in the bottom half of the fifth inning on an RBI single from Derek Nicholson, scoring Cory Harris who reached after being hit by a pitch.  It was the third run scored off Boughner who left the game after six innings having allowed three runs, two earned, on eight hits for his first win of the season.

Kansas City added three more runs in the ninth inning, two of which scored on a two-out double from Calvin Pickering to push their lead to four.  Brett Reid and Matt Schweitzer combined to throw two scoreless innings in relief.  Dan Jackson allowed one run on a sacrifice fly by Diaz in the ninth.

Game Notes:  Eggleston scored four times in the game and stole his 12th base of the season, tying him with Fehlandt Lentini of Winnipeg for first in the Northern League…The seven runs scored by Kansas City pushed their league-leading total to 166.  No other team has more than 150.
