KANSAS CITY, Kan.—Kansas City scored runs in each of the first seven innings, pounding out 23 hits on their way to a 19-3 victory over the Gary SouthShore RailCats in front of 5,045 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The lop-sided victory capped off a three-game sweep of Gary in which the T-Bones outscored the first-place RailCats 33-10. The win marked the first three-game sweep for Kansas City since an August 22-24 series against Schaumburg in 2006.

The T-Bones used another balanced attack in the win, as all eight starting fielders had at least one hit. Kansas City was led by Neb Brown’s two home runs, his second coming with the bases loaded, capping off an eight-run second inning.  Brown’s two home runs came in consecutive at-bats, the first time he accomplished the feat in his career.

Seven T-Bones had multi-hit games, lead by the 2-3-4 hitters of Brown, Brad Correll and Mario Delgado who combined to go 11-for-17 with two home runs, seven RBI and eight runs.

The bottom half of the lineup—Donaldo Mendez, Austin Easley, Nelson Gord and Aharon Eggleston—also had excellent days at the plate, going nine-for-17 with eight RBI and nine runs.

After hitting a walk-off home run last night, Rob Watson belted his fourth home run of the season with the bases loaded in the middle of a seven-run fifth inning.  The inning capped off the scoring for the T-Bones. 

Lost in the offensive explosion was the second gem by a T-Bones pitcher in three games. Starter Lavon Lewis became the second T-Bones pitcher to earn his first career complete game in the series after surrendering three runs on 10 hits while striking out six and walking one.

RailCats starter Jason Shelley only lasted three and one-third innings, giving up 12 earned runs on 13 hits in the loss.

Game Notes:  The eight runs scored in the second inning were the most runs Kansas City has scored in a game this season…Prior to the series versus Gary, no T-Bones starting pitcher had lasted longer than six innings.  In the three-game series, both Kenny Durost and Lavon Lewis pitched complete games for Kansas City…The T-Bones 19 runs and 23 hits were the most for Kansas City since a 24-1 win over Joliet on June 10, 2006.  In the seven-inning game that was called due to bad weather, Kansas City pounded out 20 hits…Rob Watson’s grand slam in the fifth inning was memorable in more ways than one. It was Watson’s fourth home run of the season, which broke his career high of three only 19 games into the season. Watson’s blast, which came in the T-Bones “Grand Slam Inning” won a Toyota Camry for fan Tom Erickson.
