WINNIPEG, Mb.  –  After each team had their share of the lead, it was the Winnipeg Goldeyes who would hold the advantage in the end as they defeated the Kansas City T-Bones 8-7 in front of 6,904 fans.

Winnipeg starter Joel Posey walked the first batter he faced, leadoff hitter Rob Watson, before retiring the next nine hitters, including six consecutive strikeouts. While Posey was breezing through the T-Bones lineup, his offense got to work against Kansas City starter Kenny Durost. The Goldeyes drove in their first run of the game in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Luis Alen. They would leave the bases loaded when Durost got Cameron Coughlan swinging to end the frame.

Winnipeg would jump out to a 4-0 lead in the third when they scored three runs off Durost, two of which came on RBI singles by Jimmy Hurst and Antoin Gray. Durost would again force the Goldeyes to leave the bases loaded when he enduced a double play ball from Max Poulin to end the inning.

The T-Bones began to chip away at the deficit with a solo home run by Neb Brown (pictured) to begin the fourth. Kansas City added three more in the fifth on three hits and three walks. A walk by Calvin Pickering forced in Aharon Eggleston for the second run of the inning and an infield single from Jason Belcher plated the third.

Kansas City tied the game at five with a two-out RBI double by Rob Watson, scoring Eggleston before Watson was gunned down trying to advance to third. The T-Bones would plate two more in the seventh after back-to-back doubles from Pickering and Brad Correll. Correll's double brought home Pickering and a single from Belcher scored Correll.

Winnipeg loaded the bases again in their half of the seventh, but Matt Schweitzer got Hurst looking and Walter Young to ground out to second to end the threat. However, Winnipeg threatened again in the eighth against Schweitzer, this time capitalizing as the first four batters reached, including doubles by Gray and Alen with Alen's double driving in Scott Schade for the tying run. A suicide squeeze from Coughlan would score Schade to plate the winning run. Schweitzer was saddled with the loss after allowing three runs on three hits in one and two-thirds innings. Chris Krawczyk allowed one hit in one inning for the T-Bones.

Kansas City got the tying run on base in the ninth, but Goldeyes closer Matt Davis picked up a save after enducing a double play from Belcher to end the game. Juan Velazquez picked up the win after throwing a scoreless eighth inning.
