KANSAS CITY , Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones continued their torrid offensive streak in 2007, smacking double-digit hits for the second game in a row on their way to a 6-3 win over the visiting Edmonton Cracker-Cats.

Kansas City wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, pounding out four hits in a three-run first inning that included a pair of RBI doubles by Neb Brown and Donaldo Mendez. The inning was capped off by Brad Correll’s league-leading third home run of the season that made the score 3-0.

The T-Bones, off to their best start in team history, got five strong innings from starter Lavon Lewis (pictured), who gave up three earned runs while striking out a career-high eight Edmonton batters on his way to his first win since July 27, 2005.

Following an injury at the plate to T-Bones catcher Jeremy McIntyre that forced designated hitter Jason Belcher to move to catcher, relief pitcher Travis Schlichting was brought in for his arm as well as his bat. A former shortstop prospect in the Anaheim Angels’ organization, Schlichting pitched a scoreless sixth before hitting a double and scoring the T-Bones final run of the game in the bottom half of the inning. Matt Schweitzer came in to pitch a perfect eighth before Dan Jackson recorded the final three outs to pick up his second save of the season.

Edmonton was lead offensively by left fielder Terrence McClain, who was one-for-five with two RBI and a run scored.

Starter Chris Kemlo, who gave up 10 hits and five earned runs in five and two-thirds innings was credited with the loss for Edmonton .

Game Notes:  Neb Brown, Donaldo Mendez, Austin Easley, and Aharon Eggleston all had multi-hit games for the T-Bones…Eggleston drove in two runs and stole a base in the contest…T-Bones relievers allowed just three baserunners in the final four innings of the game.
