KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones of the independent Northern League have made the first roster moves since spring training began on May 2; outfielder Brandon Jones (pictured) has been traded to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.  This completes an earlier trade for catcher Jason Belcher.

In a separate but related move with Fargo , T-Bones manager Andy McCauley announced the acquisition of outfielder Brad Correll in exchange for future considerations.  Correll was originally drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 29^th round of the 2002 draft.  He spent the first three seasons of his career in the Reds system.  He has since played in the Phillies, Marlins and Pirates systems.  Correll hit 12 home runs in 2005 while playing for Clearwater in the Florida State League, a traditionally strong pitching league.

“By trading Brandon to Fargo , we receive an outfielder with a lot more experience, and someone who can hit in the middle of the lineup,” said McCauley.  “It’s hard to let Brandon go because we know he is a fan favorite here in Kansas City .”

Jones spent the last two seasons as the T-Bones third baseman.  Injuries forced him to miss most of last season and he finished with a .225 average, 10 home runs and 32 RBI in just 46 games.  In 2005, his rookie season, Jones led the team with 13 home runs in 87 games.  He was originally signed out of the T-Bones tryout camp in the spring of 2005.

McCauley has also announced the release of catcher Casey Clary, infielder Dusty Kain, and pitchers Shawn Morrison, Joe Barbosa and Jonathan Hunton.  The moves trim the roster to 23 players; the Northern League allows a 22-man roster by opening day.
