08/29/2006 10:55 AM - CHICAGO (August 28) – Outfielder Terrence McClain of the Edmonton Cracker-Cats and righthander Hank Woodman of the Kansas City T-Bones are the recipients of the Northern League Rawlings Player and Pitcher of the Week Awards, respectively, for August 21-27, the Northern League office announced Monday. N.L. Vice-President of Operations Garrett Gosselink made the announcement.

In seven games during the week, McClain batted .379 (11-for-29) with 1 home run and 7 RBIs. McClain also hit three doubles and a triple to go along with his home run, and compiled a .655 slugging percentage for the week.

McClain batted 4-for-4 including a triple and two doubles, scored two runs, and drove in two to lead Edmonton to a 9-7 win over Joliet in Game one of a doubleheader on August 22. McClain had two hits, including a two-run homer that provided the deciding runs, in Edmonton's 4-3 win over Fargo-Moorhead on August 26, which coincidentally was McClain's 27 th birthday.

On the season, McClain is batting .296 with 6 home runs and a club-best 58 RBIs.

In two starts during the week, Woodman went 1-0, 1.29 ERA. In 14 innings of work, Woodman yielded just 8 hits and two runs while striking out 20 batters. Woodman yielded two runs over seven innings, striking out 11 batters, but received no-decision in Kansas City's eventual 3-2, 10-inning win over Schaumburg on August 22. Woodman pitched seven scoreless innings, scattering three hits, walking one and striking out nine as Kansas City routed Gary 14-3 Saturday night.

Other players receiving consideration for Player of the Week were Joliet's John Lackaff, Kansas City's Pat Magness, Fargo-Moorhead's Allen Mottram, Schaumburg's Chris Weekly, Calgary's Darryl Brinkley, Gary's Steve Haake, and Winnipeg's Fehlandt Lentini.

Pitchers who received weekly award consideration were Schaumburg's David Glick, Edmonton's Reggie Rivard, Fargo-Moorhead's Brion Treadway, Winnipeg's Luis Villareal, Joliet's Matt Smith, Gary's Travis Kerber, and Calgary's Jon Huizinga.
