08/26/2006 10:41 PM - KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones (44-45, 22-19) rode Hank Woodman’s right arm and a seventh-inning offensive outburst to notch their fifth straight win Saturday with a 14-3 victory over the Gary SouthShore RailCats (43-45, 19-21) before a crowd of 7,467 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The T-Bones jumped on top early and, behind the pitching of Woodman, never let the RailCats get off the mat.

With one out and runners on first and second in the first inning, Pat Magness launched the first of his two home runs of the night- a three-run shot over the left-field wall to give Woodman the early 3-0 cushion. In seven shutout innings, the veteran right-hander gave up just three hits and struck out nine batters to pick up his first win since July 20th and keep the T-Bones even with Joliet for the lead in the East Division playoff chase.

The T-Bones put the game out of reach with their biggest inning of the season- a nine-run seventh inning that saw their lead balloon to 13-0. Kansas City sent 14 batters to the plate and scored five times before the RailCats recorded an out. Craig Hurba and Zach Norman each came through with two-run singles, and Greg Jacobs plated a pair with a double down the right-field line to highlight the frame.

Gary finally got on the board in the eighth via a Tanner Townsend three-run homer off reliever Nick Slack, but that would prove to be the only offensive highlight of the evening for the RailCats.

Magness, who scored three runs and drove home five in all, delivered his second long ball of the contest in the eighth off Ned Schauff to push the T-Bones advantage to 14-3.

Jacobs went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and two RBI for the T-Bones, while Doug Dreher chipped in with two hits and three runs scored.

The T-Bones and RailCats will tangle once again Sunday at 5:05 p.m. in the final home contest of the season. RHP Jonathan Krysa (13-3, 3.54) gets the starting nod for the home team, while Gary will send left-hander Josh Habel (7-8, 4.81) to the mound.

Game Notes: The T-Bones improved to 7-7 vs. Gary this season…Joliet defeated Schaumburg by a 9-5 score Saturday to send the Flyers to their 14th consecutive loss, which ties an NL record set by Gary SouthShore, May 31-June 14, 2004.
