T-Bones pick up Slack with latest roster move

08/21/2006 2:14 PM - KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones added another arm to their bullpen Sunday by signing right-hander Nick Slack. The fourth-year professional joins the T-Bones after going 0-4 with a pair of saves in 11 appearances for the independent Nashua Pride (CanAm League) earlier this season.

Slack, 23, was selected by Milwaukee in the 20th round of the 2003 draft and compiled a 6-11 record and 24 saves over his first three pro seasons. His best effort came in 2003 when he was named an all-star, going 1-1 with 10 saves and a 2.19 ERA while pitching for the Brewers' Rookie-level club in Helena (Pioneer League). Slack held opposing hitters to a league-low .148 average and fanned 13.5 batters per nine innings.

The Middletown, CT native played collegiately at Lake City (FL) Community College where he was named "Fireman of the Year" by the Mid-Florida Conference in 2003.
