08/12/2006 10:25 PM - KANSAS CITY – Jonathan Krysa turned in another stand-out performance Saturday evening, pitching the Kansas City T-Bones (38-39, 16-13) to their second straight 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Goldeyes (39-37, 12-16) and giving “Dirty” Al Gallagher his 1000th career managerial win in front of a crowd of 7,036 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Krysa (11-3) came out blazing, striking out the side in the first and fanning seven batters overall through the first three innings. The Rockhurst product would go on to strike out 10 Goldeyes in his eight-plus innings of work, giving up just two runs on nine hits to notch his 11th win of the season.

The Goldeyes got on the board in the third when Max Poulin doubled to lead things off, then came home on Fehlandt Lentini’s triple to left-center field to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Kansas City jumped into the fray in the bottom half of the third, scoring twice to grab a 2-1 advantage. After Robbie Knapp singled off Goldeyes starter Tony Evans to lead-off the inning, Zach Norman laid down a perfect bunt just inside the third-base line and beat Sean Walsh’s throw to first to give the T-Bones their first scoring opportunity of the night. Doug Dreher moved both runners into scoring position with a sacrifice-bunt before J.D. Foust singled home Knapp to put Kansas City on the board. Moments later, Norman streaked home with the go-ahead run when Foust got caught up in a rundown between first and second.

The T-Bones added another run in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. Craig Hurba drew a lead-off walk, stole second base, then advanced to third on Chad Sosebee’s base-hit to left. After a walk to Jaime Jones loaded the bases, Knapp came through once again, lifting a sacrifice-fly to center to bring home Hurba.

Greg Sain homered with two out in the sixth inning to bring Winnipeg to within a run, but Krysa and James Morrison shut the door down the stretch to preserve the win and the T-Bones’ one-game lead in the East Division standings.

After Krysa issued his lone walk of the contest- to Matt Mann leading off the ninth- Morrison entered the game and got Walsh to pop-up to the mound on a bunt attempt, then retired Poulin on a sharp come-backer for the second out of the inning. With runners on second and third, he then coaxed a pop-foul down the first-base line off the bat of Lentini to wrap up his fifth save.

The milestone victory for Gallagher puts an exclamation point on a career spanning over two decades. In four seasons with the T-Bones, Gallagher has posted a 174-182 record.

The third and final game of the series is slated for a 5:05 p.m. start Sunday at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. RHP Larry Robles (4-3, 3.20) will square off against RHP Josh Beshears (7-3, 3.46) for Winnipeg.

Game Notes: Jonathan Krysa completed at least seven innings for the 13th time in 19 starts this season and improved to 7-1 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in 2006…Greg Jacobs doubled in the second inning to extend his hit streak to 11 games and his home on-base streak to 41 games.
