Hurba, Robles Player, Pitcher of Week08/07/2006 3:51 PM - Catcher Craig Hurba (pictured) and righthander Larry Robles of Kansas City T-Bones are the recipients of the Northern League Rawlings Player and Pitcher of the Week Awards, respectively, for July 31 - August 6, the Northern League office announced Monday. N.L. Vice-President of Operations Garrett Gosselink made the announcement.
In six games during the week, Hurba batted .471 (8-for-17) with 3 home runs and 7 RBIs. Hurba also drew five walks and compiled an on-base percentage of .591. Hurba also hit a double to go along with his three homers, and compiled a 1.059 slugging percentage for the week. Hurba hit two homers, including an eighth-inning grand slam, to lead the T-Bones to an 11-9 win over the Schaumburg Flyers Sunday. On the season, Hurba is tied for second among the league leaders in home runs with 15, and ranks third in the league with a .544 slugging percentage. In two starts, Robles went 1-0, 0.75 ERA, yielding just eight hits while striking out 13 batters in 12 innings of work. Robles pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out eight, earning the win in Kansas Citys 7-1 victory over Schaumburg on August 5. Robles ranks third in the Northern League with a 2.72 ERA for the season. Other players receiving consideration for Player of the Week were Edmontons Kyle Nichols, Garys Tanner Townsend, Fargo-Moorheads Jesse Hoorelbeke, Winnipegs Greg Sain, Joliets Maikel Jova, Calgarys Manabu Kuramochi, and Schaumburgs Ben Van Iderstine.
