08/04/2006 5:05 PM - KANSAS CITY – The Kansas City T-Bones announce their latest giveaway, one that will be sure to catch the interest of the Kansas City community. On Saturday, August 5, the T-Bones will select a winner of their funeral giveaway, courtesy of Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, Kan. Jeff Harrington of Alden-Harrington Funeral Home has agreed to award funeral proceedings at a future date to one lucky T-Bones fan in order to increase awareness of funeral pre-planning. The winner will be announced at the August 5 game against the Schaumburg Flyers.

Fans were invited to submit a description of up to 500 words of their ideal funeral online at www.tbonesbaseball.com or at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Fans were encouraged to be as creative as possible, describing every detail of their funerals, including guests, music, food served, pallbearers and entertainment. There is no age limit to the contest, but the funeral may only be used for the winner.

A similar funeral giveaway promotion was put on by the Hagerstown Suns of the South Atlantic League in the 2004 season, and the promotion was selected as the best promotion in minor league baseball by ESPN. The T-Bones hope to make their promotion this season just as popular and successful as those in past seasons.
