CommunityAmerica Named as Presenting Sponsor for 2006 Northern League All-Star Game

04/23/2006 1:51 PM - Kansas City, Kan. - CommunityAmerica Credit Union has been named the Presenting Sponsor of the 2006 Northern League All-Star Game according to the Kansas City T-Bones Professional Baseball Club. The game will be played on July 18, 2006 at the home of the T-Bones, CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

CommunityAmerica has been a proud supporter of the T-Bones since the Northern League club arrived in Kansas City in 2003. The Credit Union invested in the naming rights sponsorship of the T-Bones' award-winning ballpark, and from the beginning, CommunityAmerica has worked with the T-Bones on numerous initiatives to benefit the Kansas City community.

“Once again CommunityAmerica has shown why they are such an important part of the Kansas City community,” said John Ehlert, president and owner of the T-Bones. “The Northern League All-Star game will be the first game of this type held in Kansas City in more than thirty years, and it shines a national spotlight on the metropolitan area as a whole. The partnership between the T-Bones and CommunityAmerica helps us continue to produce the high-quality, family-friendly events our fans have come to expect.”

The Credit Union is a long-time member of the Kansas City community. Founded in 1940 as TWA Club Credit Union, CommunityAmerica Credit Union has become one of the top ten Kansas City-based financial institutions based on deposits, with 15 area branches, a full line of banking products and convenient services such as online and telephone banking.

“We are very proud to be so closely associated with the T-Bones and CommunityAmerica Ballpark,” said Dennis Pierce, chief executive officer for CommunityAmerica Credit Union. “Part of our corporate culture is to have fun and the T-Bones certainly provide a sense of enjoyment and excitement in our community, which is emphasized by their hosting of the 2006 Northern League All-Star Game.”

The 2006 All-Star Game will honor the Northern League’s fourteenth year of operations and is its tenth Mid-Summer Classic.

Events surrounding the game will include an All-Star Fan Fest and concert, the Northern League's Home Run Derby and Skills Competition, and a baseball game with former major league greats, including Willie Wilson and Bob Dernier, all planned for July 17. There will also be a luncheon featuring keynote speaker "Buck" O'Neil at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center prior to the game on July 18.
