Krysa Pitches T-Bones to 6-2 Win in Series Finale

06/28/2006 9:01 PM - KANSAS CITY – The T-Bones (18-21) picked up 13 hits and Jonathan Krysa gave up just one run through eight innings of work in a 6-2 win over the Calgary Vipers (16-22). Jesse Acosta picked up his first triple as a T-Bone and Greg Jacobs tallied his 14th double of the year Wednesday afternoon in front of 648 fans at Foothills Stadium in Calgary.

The Vipers struck first when Manabu Kuramochi walked, then scored on a sacrifice fly ball by Jason Colson. The T-Bones answered back quickly, however, as Pat Magness walked, then scored on a single by Acosta.

Kansas City took a 3-1 lead in the fourth when Doug Dreher scored on a single by Brandon Jones, who advanced around the diamond to score when Jacobs doubled to center field. The visitors would strike again in the sixth as Acosta scored on a single by Jacobs, and capped their scoring with two more runs in the ninth. Jacobs crossed the plate on a Charles Peterson RBI single to centerfield. Peterson would cross the plate on a double play ground out.

The Vipers responded with one run in the ninth, but couldn’t do anything more, giving the T-Bones their second straight victory.

Calgary’s offense was held in check throughout the game. Kansas City’s Krysa retired 16 straight Vipers at one point before allowing a hit. Krysa recorded 11 strikeouts and walked just three in an eight-inning performance before giving way to Caleb Balbuena, who finished the game. The T-Bones duo combined to allow just two hits in the contest.

While Krysa was taking care of his business, the T-Bones bats were doing their jobs and doing them well. Jacobs was one of five T-Bones with a multi-hit game. Jacobs finished four-for-for with a run and an RBI on three singles, a double, and a stolen base. Peterson (two-for-five), Eddie Pearson (two-for-five), Magness (two-for-three), and Acosta (two-for-four) also recorded multi-hit games for the T-Bones.

The T-Bones will hit the road Thursday en route to Edmonton for a three-game set with the Edmonton Cracker-Cats beginning Friday. The first pitch for Friday’s game is slated for 8:05 MDT at TELUS Field in Edmonton.
