06/28/2006 12:06 AM - CALGARY – The Kansas City T-Bones (17-21) rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday evening to nip the Calgary Vipers (15-22), 6-5, in game two of the clubs’ three-game set.

Trailing 5-3 and facing a fourth consecutive loss, the T-Bones got to Vipers reliever Jon Huizinga for three runs on three hits in the ninth, the biggest of which was a Craig Hurba one-out, two-run double that put Kansas City ahead for good. After Greg Jacobs walked and stole second base to lead-off the inning, Charles Peterson delivered his third hit of the night and Eddie Pearson followed with a double off the center field wall to plate the T-Bones’ first run of the frame and cut the Calgary lead to 5-4. Following a Pat Magness strikeout, Hurba (pictured) came through with the decisive blow down the left field line, giving the T-Bones their first win of the season when trailing entering the ninth inning.

Closer Byron Embry struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth to pick up his Northern League-leading ninth save of the season.

The come-from-behind victory was well-earned, as Kansas City trailed for much of the evening. Calgary jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first when Manabu Kuramochi singled, then scored the games’ first run on a Buddy Blair throwing error. The Vipers added another run in the frame, as Nelson Castro came home when Josh Carter grounded into a double-play to give Calgary a 2-0 advantage.

The T-Bones came right back with a run of their own in the second on Chad Sosebee’s RBI single, then tied the game when Brandon Jones led-off the third with a solo home run in just his second at-bat since returning from a broken jaw.

The Vipers took what appeared to be a commanding lead in the sixth on Aaron McEachran’s second homer in as many days- a two-run shot off Blair that put Calgary back in front. Jason Colson doubled and came home on a Brandon Rogers single to give the Vipers their third run of the inning and a 5-2 lead.

Kansas City inched closer in the seventh when Jacobs tripled with two-out and scored on a Peterson RBI single to cut the margin to two runs and set the stage for the T-Bones’ ninth-inning rally.

James Morrison (3-0) turned in his third straight scoreless outing, working 2 1/3 innings in relief of Blair to pick up the victory for the T-Bones. Huizinga (2-1) shouldered the loss for Calgary after allowing three runs on four hits in his two-thirds of an inning.

The T-Bones and Vipers will conclude their three-game series tomorrow afternoon at 1:35 p.m., as RHP Jonathan Krysa (5-2, 3.47) will oppose Calgary RHP Clint Hosford (3-3, 4.38). Be sure to catch all the action on “The Light” 1030 AM or live on www.tbonesbaseball.com.
