T-Bones fall 4-2 in Calgary

06/26/2006 11:41 PM - CALGARY, AB – The T-Bones (16-21) opened a three-game series with Calgary by dropping a 4-2 contest to the Vipers (15-21) Monday night at Foothills Stadium.

The T-Bones faced an uphill climb throughout the game as the Vipers drew first blood with a two-run shot by Aaron McEachern that gave Calgary a 2-0 lead. The T-Bones answered two innings later as Craig Hurba put himself in scoring position with a double. Hurba would cross the plate on an RBI single by Chad Sosebee, who was hit home by James Beever’s first double as a T-Bone.

Calgary responded by taking a lead they would never give up in the bottom half of the third with a solo home run by Jason Colson. The Vipers added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to take a 4-2 lead.

The T-Bones racked up 11 hits in the game, but were unable to capitalize on them, leaving runners in scoring position in three of the game’s final six innings.

Greg Bicknell (3-5) went the distance for the T-Bones. The veteran pitcher recorded nine strikeouts in the complete game effort, but gave up 11 hits and four runs, all of which were earned.

Calgary’s Quentin Oldenburg recorded the win while Bicknell was saddled with the loss. Jon Huizinga recorded his fourth save of the season.

The two teams will meet once again Tuesday. Buddy Blair (1-5, 5.49) will toe the rubber for the T-Bones. Calgary will counter with Jay Bobel (0-1, 8.10). Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. Mountain Time at Foothills Stadium in Calgary.
