T-Bones Come Up Short in 2-0 Loss

07/09/2003 11:10 AM - Strong pitching from the Canaries, and not-so-strong pitching from the T-Bones left the team with a 2-0 loss. RHP Jayson Sigley started for the T-Bones and was aided several times by strong defensive plays such Rick Prieto and Ray Brown’s combined effort to pick off Canaries' player Desi Wilson at the plate.

The Canaries took advantage in the sixth when on Eddie Rivero’s single, which scored Felix Pagan, who had tripled off the right field wall to start the inning. RHP Nate Sevier came on in relief of Sigley to retire Pinkerton and Pendergrass, stranding three more Canaries baserunners. The only other run of the game came in the seventh when Canaries’ Marc Mirizzi scored from third on a passed ball by C Jimmy Walker.

The T-Bones will try again tonight to climb back up in the standings. The Canaries are just half a game up on Kansas City, and the second place Lincoln Saltdogs are just a full game ahead of the T-Bones. RHP Tony Gomes will be on the mound for Kansas City tonight against LHP Josh Merrigan for Sioux City. Game time is 7:03 p.m. and can be heard on Sports Radio 810.
