06/20/2006 10:24 PM - KANSAS CITY – Home runs and doubles were the weapon of choice for the T-Bones (13-18) as they pounded three long balls and seven doubles in a 9-2 win over the Joliet JackHammers (11-19) in front of 5,578 fans on a breezy Tuesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The T-Bones didn’t waste any time setting the pace of the game, as leadoff hitter Brandon Jones sent the first pitch he saw into the stiff south wind and over the left field wall for his sixth home run of the season. Joliet gave Kansas City another run when Greg Jacobs scored two-batters later on a wild pitch, giving the T-Bones a 2-0 edge.

The JackHammers began to chip away at the T-Bones lead in the third, when John Lackaff launched a Jonathan Krysa pitch over the left field fence and into his own team’s bullpen, narrowing the lead to 2-1. But the T-Bones answered back when Eddie Pearson turned a pitch from Joliet’s Marc Sauer into a souvenir for a fan sitting on the right field berm, scoring himself and Jacobs in the process, and giving his team a 4-1 edge. Jones was on the scene once again when he bounced a double off the left field wall, scoring Jesse Acosta to give the T-Bones a 5-1 advantage after four innings of play.

Joliet answered back in the fifth as a blast by Chad Ehrnsberger cleared the left field wall, narrowing the gap to three runs at 5-2. However, the T-Bones countered with another Pearson home run in the bottom half of the inning. One inning later, Pat Magness walked with the bases loaded, scoring Jacobs. Jacobs returned the favor in the next inning, scoring Doug Dreher on an RBI single to center field to give the T-Bones a 9-2 lead.

Krysa (5-2) gave T-Bones fans another productive outing earning his fifth win of the season by allowing just two runs on six hits while striking out six and walking just three in his seven innings of work. He was relieved in the eighth inning by Logan McElwain, who faced four batters and allowed just one hit in his home debut. Caleb Balbuena worked a scoreless ninth inning to close out the victory.

The T-Bones and JackHammers will meet once again Wednesday for game three of the four game set. Kansas City will send Larry Robles (3-2, 2.57) to the mound to face Joliet’s Roger Luque (3-1, 5.27). The first pitch at CommunityAmerica Ballpark is slated for 7:05 p.m.

Game Notes: Pat Magness has reached base safely in each of his first 10 games with the T-Bones and has a hit in nine of those contests...Eddie Pearson recorded his first multi-home run game since August 5, 2004 when he hit three bombs against Joliet...Greg Jacobs’ four-hit game was his third of the season (6/6 vs. Edmonton and 6/9 vs. Gary)...Tuesday's victory was the 975th of "Dirty" Al Gallagher's mangagerial career.
