T-Bones Ink Local Product Jones

01/17/2006 12:12 PM - In an effort to keep up with the Joneses, the T-Bones added a second player with the surname of Jones to their 2006 roster. Lefthanded pitcher Rusty Jones, who was named All-Southland Conference in his senior season with the Northwestern State U. of Louisiana Demons, has been signed, the team announced Tuesday.

Jones led the Demons in hitting with a .359 average, homering twice while driving in 22 runs. The left-hander also appeared in fourteen games on the mound, posting a 5-3 record while helping the Demons to the finals of the Baton Rouge Regionals, where they fell to the LSU Tigers. For his efforts, Jones was also named to the ABCA/Rawlings 2005 South Central Region second team as an outfielder.

The Shawnee, Kan., resident played at Butler County CC prior to his time with the Demons, and was also a part of two El Dorado Bronco teams that finished in the top seven of the NBC World Series in Wichita.

"We're excited to have Rusty as a part of the team," said T-Bones Manager "Dirty" Al Gallagher. "He was an outfielder in college, but he has a very live arm and we're excited to see what he can do on the mound."
