09/02/2005 12:07 AM - An infield single by Derek Patterson scored Stubby Clapp, who had singled to lead off the bottom of the twelfth inning, giving the Edmonton Cracker-Cats a 4-3 win over the Kansas City T-Bones in front of 1,797 at TELUS Field in Edmonton, Alberta.

Edmonton tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the eighth when Clapp, who had walked, advanced to third on a throwing error by Ray Brown and scored on a fielder's choice by Aharon Eggleston. The tying run wasted a solid outing by Jon McDonald, who went eight innings and allowed two earned runs. In addition to driving in the tying run, Eggleston scored the first Cracker-Cat run of the game in the fourth inning when Patterson's sacrifice fly brought him home.

The T-Bones had scored first, with Ray Brown's first-inning ground out scoring Gabby Delgado, who had singled to center. Kansas City scored twice in the top of thr fourth inning to increase their lead to 3-0, with Nick Sorensen's triple scoring Chad Sosebee, who had singled, and Matt Ceriani's single scoring Sorensen. For Ceriani and Sorensen, their hits were one of three on the night. The T-Bones had runners on first and second and none out in the inning, but could not score again.

Edmonton had opportunities to win the game in the tenth and eleventh innings, but twice Greg Jacobs made game-saving throws to the plate to cut down the winning runs and end the innings. In the tenth, it was Chris Becker being cut down by Jacobs' arm; in the eleventh, it was Derek Patterson.

Jacobs narrowly missed a game-winning homer in the top of the eleventh, socking a single off the right-field wall 320 feet away. Right fielder Chuck MacFarlane played the carom perfectly and held Jacobs to the single on the screamer.

Nate Ruhl (L, 0-3) took the loss for the T-Bones, while Ira Brown (W, 3-5), who worked a scoreless top of the eleventh, picked up the win for Edmonton.
