SCHAUMBURG, IL - Schaumburg Flyers starter Matt Bailie rebounded from a difficult start last time and turned in eight solid innings as the Flyers beat the Kansas City T-Bones 6-3 at Alexian Field on Saturday night. The Flyers improve to 5-4 in the second half and 21-36 overall. The T-Bones drop to 3-6 and 30-25 overall. Schaumburg is one-half game behind Lincoln for first place in the South Division second half race.

The Flyers were able to score early against T-Bones starter David Viane (4-4). Back-to-back doubles by Eric Cole and Josue Lopez with two outs in the second inning put Schaumburg ahead 1-0. The Flyers plated three more runs in the third on a Geoff McCallum double and sacrifice flies by Justin Hendrickson and Chris Weekly. McCallum extended his hitting streak to eight games and finished 2-for-4.

Bailie (7-0) walked Matt Ceriani to lead off the Kansas City third. Rafael Rodriguez drove in Ceriani with a single to right, briefly tying the game at 1-1. Bailie did not run into trouble again until the sixth when Greg Jacobs hit a two-run home run to left field. Ray Brown then singled, but was doubled off at first base after a Cody Nowlin flyout to end the inning.

Schaumburg scored runs in the fifth on a Weekly RBI double and in the seventh on another RBI double by Hendrickson. Nate Cotton worked a perfect ninth inning for his fourth save. Bailie gave up the three runs on five hits. He struck out three and walked three batters. Three T-Bones relievers held the Flyers to two hits over the final three innings.
