Flyers starter R.J. Swindle stymied the T-Bones Thursday night in Schaumburg, shutting out the T-Bones, 3-0, at Alexian Field. Swindle's effort against the T-Bones wasted a stellar effort by Kansas City righthander Greg Bicknell, who has suffered both of his losses this season in Schaumburg.

Bicknell was touched for a run in the first inning when Geoff McCallum, the Schaumburg leadoff man, singled and stole second base. When T-Bone catcher Matt Ceriani's throw went into center field, McCallum moved up to third base and scored an unearned run on a fielder's choice by Justin Hendrickson.

The game remained 1-0 in favor of Schaumburg until the bottom of the eighth inning, when Jarrod Patterson singled to right field to score Ryan Walker. When right fielder Greg Jacobs' throw to the plate eluded Ceriani, Nelson Gord also came across on the play and the T-Bones trailed, 3-0.

Nate Cotton (S, 3) came on in the top of the ninth inning to earn the save for the Flyers, retiring the T-Bones in order in the frame.

Bicknell (L, 10-2) hurled a complete game for the T-Bones, his fourth of the season, in the loss. The veteran righthander allowed just one earned run in eight innings but was tagged with his second loss of the season. Bicknell only allowed one hit, the single by McCallum, until the seventh inning.

Swindle (W, 4-2) pitched eight scoreless innings in earning his fourth win of the season. The second-year lefty struck out nine in the game.
