With the T-Bones trailing the Schaumburg Flyers 7-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning, T-Bones manager “Dirty” Al Gallagher called upon Cody Nowlin to pinch hit with the bases loaded. With 7,358 fans on their feet, Nowlin delivered a grand slam to deep right field to pull the T-Bones ahead for good 8-7, fulfilling every ballplayer’s dream scenario.

After a rough outing in which T-Bone starter Jonathan Krysa surrendered six earned runs in 3 2/3 innings pitched, reliever Joe Goodman (W, 4-0) sparkled in relief, holding the Flyers to only one hit in his 4 1/3 innings of work. Goodman entered the ballgame with the T-Bones trailing 7-1 needing a stopper and also an answer on offense.

Things got interesting in the fourth when Greg Jacobs scored on a wild pitch and David Segui homered for the second time in as many nights, this one a two-run shot to pull the T-Bones within three. Keeping the momentum going into the sixth, the T-Bones loaded the bases and chased Flyers starter Raymond Jenkins. Flyers manager Andy McCauley then called upon reliever Blake Williams (L, 0-5) to get the Flyers out of the jam and end the inning. However, on a 2-0 count, Nowlin cracked his sixth home run of the year and capped off the six-run comeback.

Caleb Balbuena (S, 1) pitched a sensational ninth inning in earning his first save this season. With his fastball hovering around the mid-90s, Balbuena struck out Ryan Walker to end the ballgame and give the T-Bones their second consecutive victory.

Chris Weekly homered for the ninth time this season and Jarrod Patterson drove in four runs in the losing effort. The loss marked the second straight for the Flyers.

The T-Bones and Flyers conclude their three-game series tomorrow at 5:05 p.m.

Notes: Sean Flynn and Rafael Rodriguez hit back-to-back doubles in the third to give the T-Bones their first run of the ballgame… T-Bones catchers were successful behind the plate, gunning down both Chris Weekly and Nelson Gord in their steal attempts… Ray Brown had two hits in four at bats and also scored twice…
