Cleburne, TX— The Kansas City T-Bones (35-37) came into Cleburne in desperate need of a win, but the first place Cleburne Railroaders (45-29) kept on chugging, grabbing a 9-6 victory in game one.

Four nights, four games and four early leads for the T-Bones as the bats were active yet again. After an impressive 4-5 batting performance in the series finale against Lincoln, Daniel Nava started the scoring for KC with a single that would score the speedster Mason Davis from second, 1-0 KC after one inning.

The Railroaders defense seemed to aid the T-Bones offense in the second inning after an error from outfielder K.C. Huth led to a double from Dylan Tice that would end in a run for the T-Bones. The Bones were not done yet in the second—Mason “Maeday” Davis would add to the total with a bullet of a base hit, and just like that, it was 3-0 KC, two innings into the ball game.

The bats had to cool down at some point, but the hot bat of Chris Colabello melted the ice with a home run pummeled to left field to increase the T-Bone lead to 4-0, putting runs up for the third inning in a row.

The Railroaders would get their engines started in the third after an error from Dylan Tice allowed a run to cross the plate to make it 4-1 through three in Cleburne.

The T-Bones kept the steak sizzling, thanks to a double from Dylan Tice that would score Danny Mars for the fifth run on 10 hits only four innings into the game. However, Ryan Brett, the former T-Bone, fired up, hitting a two-run triple. The Railroaders continued the rally with Ryan Brett crossing the plate on a sacrifice fly from Hunter Clanin, and in the blink of an eye, it was a 5-4 game, with KC hanging on to the lead.

The Railroaders train kept on rolling with a moon shot from K.C. Huth that would tie the ball game at five runs apiece. Cleburne brought yet another run home on a wild pitch, and wham!… Cleburne took the lead 6-5…the damage done in just one inning.

After a quiet fifth, former T-Bone Daniel Robertson stung KC with a three-run home run off the scoreboard that increased the Railroader lead to 9-5.

The newer guy in town, Tyler Marincov, kept the T-Bones heart beat alive with a solo home run to left field that cut the Cleburne lead to 9-6. The Cleburne train would not be picking up any T-Bones passengers though as the Railroaders stole the win with a score of 9-6.

Cleburne’s Jose Sanchez gets the win, improving to 8-2 while KC’s Tommy Collier is given the loss, moving to 6-5 on the year. Cleburne’s D.J. Sharabi gets the save, his first of the year.

Game two of the series kicks off at 7:05 pm Wednesday night. Jon Perrin (3-1) will be on the hill for the T-Bones, and Charlie Gillies (4-5) will take the mound for Cleburne.
