DEJA VU: T-BONES SHUT OUT SALTDOGS AGAIN

07/07/2019 6:47 PM -

Lincoln, Neb– The Kansas City T-Bones used a stellar performance from their entire pitching staff and some timely offense to win the rubber match against the Lincoln Saltdogs, 3-0, on Sunday evening at Haymarket Park.

Christian Binford (2-1) got the starting pitching nod for the T-Bones (25-22), and he delivered. Binford threw up six scoreless frames and was able to pitch himself out of every jam that he found himself in while striking out five batters.

The T-Bones looked their normal form when they jumped on Ricky Knapp (3-4) in the first inning, who earned the start for the Saltdogs (22-27). Kansas City got on the board in the first when Danny Mars reached base on a single and was driven in by a double from Chris Colabello.

In the third inning, Kansas City got another run on the board as Mars got on base with a double: his second hit of the day, And he was eventually brought home by a two-out RBI-double from Daniel Nava.

The third and final run of the contest came in the top of the seventh frame when Taylor Sparks singled to drive in Shawn O’Malley, who reached base with a double. The three runs proved to be enough for the T-Bones as they held on to win it, 3-0.

Brian Ellington, Nick Lee and Carlos Diaz came in the game from the bullpen when Binford exited the game after the sixth inning, and the trio shut the door for the T-Bones. Each of the three pitchers threw a scoreless frame, which allowed Binford to get the victory.

The T-Bones notched their second consecutive shutout victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs and another series win on the road.

The T-Bones return to Kansas City for a six-game homestand that begins on Tuesday, July 9 at 7:05 p.m.
