WINNIPEG, Manitoba – The bats went quiet for the T-Bones today as they fell to the Winnipeg Goldeyes 4-2 in the rubber match of the weekend series. With the temperature at 48 degrees at first pitch, the offense could only heat up for five hits on the day as they were unable to create any real momentum, striking out 12 times.

The game started out decently for the T-Bones, scoring first on a groundout by Daniel Robertson that brought Carlos Franco home. But they were unable to hold the lead for long, as they gave up three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Winnipeg wouldn’t give up the lead and rolled to a win. The T-Bones tried to make some noise late, scoring one in the ninth off a Carlos Franco single, bringing home Darnell Sweeney. However, it was too little too late, as the Goldeyes got two straight outs to put the game away.

Dustin Hurlbutt was able to rack up the strikeouts for the T-Bones with six in 3.2 innings. A season high seven walks, however, forced him out early while allowing three runs. Kevin Hamann took the reins in the fourth, giving up one run in 2.1 innings. Robert Calvano came on for the final two innings, continuing his good start to the season, allowing no runs on one hit and striking out two.

The one bright spot in the lineup came from Carlos Franco, who went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. He continues to be a force in the middle of the T-Bones lineup, raising his average to .321 on the season.

Dustin Hurlbutt got tagged with his first loss of the season, moving to 0-1 with a 5.78 ERA. Kevin McGovern continues his hot start for the Goldeyes, improving to 2-0 with an ERA of 1.89, while also recording 11 out of the 12 strikeouts that Goldeyes pitchers racked up.

The T-Bones drop to 5-3 on the season and will head back to Kansas City to take on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks for a one game set on Monday. The Goldeyes record improves to 7-3, as they travel to Gary to play the RailCats on Tuesday.

The T-Bones will start a seven game homestand tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. with all games heard on the T-Bones Broadcast Network with the pre-game beginning at 6:40. T-Bones Live Pre-Game show will air at 6:15 pm on Facebook Live.
