"Horsin' Around with Eddie Kennison" Set for June 25-26

06/21/2005 1:31 PM - A college football and track star when he attended LSU, Chiefs WR Eddie Kennison knows a thing or two about being a versatile athlete. He'll prove that this Saturday, June 25th, as he teams with 24 Hour Fitness, the Fox and Hound English Pub and Grille, and the Kansas City T-Bones to host "Horsin' Around with Eddie Kennison." A charity HORSE tournament, the event will go to benefit Kennison's Quickstart Foundation in association with the Alliance for Lupus Research.

"This should be a pretty fun event," Kennison beamed. "But the best part is that we'll be raising funds for an important cause. As most people know, my wife, Shamika, has Lupus. I want to do everything in my power to help the over one million Americans who are also inflicted with this disease. Thanks to the Alliance for Lupus Research all of the funds that we raise during the course of this event will go directly towards research for a cure."

The festivities start on Saturday morning with a registration breakfast and silent auction at the Fox and Hound English Pub and Grille in Overland Park (104th and Metcalf). The event, featuring an appearance by Kennison, is slated to run from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 Noon. A silent auction will follow and several items will be up for bid including autographed footballs, jerseys, and other memorabilia. Best yet, the items being auctioned off will not just feature Kennison but teammates such as Tony Gonzalez, Trent Green, and Priest Holmes as well.

Following the auction, everyone will head to 24 Hour Fitness at 119th and Metcalf as the single-elimination HORSE tournament tips off. This bracket will yield two finalists, who will take on Kennison the following night at Community America Ballpark in Kansas City, Kansas. The event will be held during a pre-game ceremony before the Sunday night T-Bones game. Following the hoops extravaganza, the finalists and a guest will then be invited to watch the T-Bones contest against the Gary-Southshore Railcats from Kennison's catered luxury suite.

The tournament's entry fee of $29 includes the June 25th breakfast with Eddie Kennison at Fox and Hound, entry into the HORSE tournament at 24 Hour Fitness, two tickets for Sunday night's T-Bones game, a commemorative t-shirt and other special giveaways.

So, if you think you've got the skills it takes to claim the HORSE title, you can pre-register at Fox and Hound English Pub and Grille (104th and Metcalf in Overland Park), 24 Hour Fitness (119th and Metcalf in Overland Park), or Community America Ballpark (1800 Village West Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas).
