07/27/2018 9:11 PM - Hats off to the Kansas City T-Bones (42-22) as they chipped away at the Chicago Dogs (25-39) to win 4-0 in Kansas City. The T-Bones pitchers combined for a complete shut out pitching nine scoreless innings allowing seven hits, striking out 15.

In the bottom of the second, the T-Bones were able to manufacture a run to take an early 1-0 lead on the Dogs. Noah Perio Jr. poked a single to center field to put a runner on first. The next at bat, Adrian Nieto hit a single to right field and got caught in a run down between first and second allowing Perio Jr. to charge for the plate. The Dogs throw was late and the T-Bones scored the first run of the game. All runners were safe.

Back-to-back walks for Dylan Tice and Mason Davis started off a promising sixth inning for Kansas City. A single by Todd Cunningham loaded the bases, setting up for a potential blow-out in Kansas City. Walsh held his ground and forced an RBI walk to score Tice from third, putting the T-Bones ahead of the Dogs 2-0. Three straight outs by Perio Jr., Nieto, and Alay Lago ended the inning, limiting Kansas City to only one run.

The Dogs were burnt again in the seventh as the T-Bones extended their lead to three. After Tice reached first on a fielder’s choice, he quickly advanced to second on a passed ball to Davis. Five pitches later, Davis crushed a ball to center field for a double that scored Curcio. Kansas City continued to extend their lead heading into the eighth.

Kansas City tacked on an insurance run in the eighth thanks to wild pitch from Dogs pitcher Kaohi Downing who sent a fast ball sailing over the catcher's head. Perio Jr. raced home from third to put the game out of reach. The T-Bones went on to win by a final score of 4-0.

Tommy Collier (6-3) was credited as the winning pitcher leading the way to a T-Bones win. He tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing six hits with an impressive 11 strikeouts.

Trevor Simms (0-1) held his own, pitching five innings allowing two runs on three hits. Despite his solid performance, Simms was credited as the losing pitcher.

The T-Bones took out the Dogs to improve to 42-22 improving to 8-2 over their last 10 games. Kansas City continues to hold down second place in the South Division behind the Sioux City Explorers (48-16). The Dogs fall to a South Division worst 25-39 on the season falling 11 games out of first place. Kansas City and Chicago continue their three-game series in Kansas City on Saturday, July 27th at 7:05 p.m.
