T-Bones Reach 30 Wins Under Texas Skies

07/07/2018 2:32 AM -

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX - Everything is bigger in Texas, this includes wins. The Kansas City T-Bones (30-16) continued their four-game winning streak beating the Texas Airhogs (11-34) 6-2 Friday night in Texas. A huge five-run seventh inning gave the T-Bones a Texas style 30th win.

It took four innings before the T-Bones got a hit, and one more inning before the T-Bones scored a run. Zhu Jinghao walked Adrian Nieto to start the inning. Dylan Tice stepped up to bat hitting a single to right field to get on base and then Todd Cunningham came to save the day. Cunningham had an RBI sending Nieto home and putting the T-Bones on the board 1-0.

The T-Bones started rolling from there. In the top of the seventh, Adrian Nieto, Mason Davis and Dylan Tice loaded the bases before Zach Walters stepped up to bat with two outs and hit an off the wall, base clearing triple, to put the T-Bones up 4-0. Taylor Featherston hit a high one out to left-field, but left-fielder Dillon Thomas dropped the ball allowing Featherston to get on base. Keith Curcio’s RBI single that followed sent Walters home extending the lead 5-0. A wild pitch sent Taylor Featherston home making the lead 6-0.

Texas got tired of the T-Bones getting all the runs and ended a 13-inning scoreless streak by scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Kevin Hill walked Chen Chen to start the seventh, and then Yang Jin hit a single to get on base. Hill walked Casio Grider and found himself in a bases loaded situation. Dillion Thomas sent Chen and Jin home with a single making the score 6-2.

Hunter Adkins (2-2) was tonight’s winning pitcher. He started the game for the T-Bones and pitched six scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Adkins finished the night with a quality start. He was replaced by Kevin Hill at the start of the seventh inning. Adkins finished the game with zero runs and six hits in six innings. Hill pitched one inning with two hits and two runs before Nick Lee took over to pitch a scoreless eighth inning and new T-Bone Marcus Crescentini finished the ninth.

Texas’ Zhu Jinghao (0-3) was tonight’s losing pitcher. He finished the game with three hits and one runs in five innings. Li Yu took over and pitched one inning without any hits or runs. Qi Xin took over in the seventh allowing four hits and five runs in one inning. Ran Song allowed one hit in the eighth before Cui Enting closed the game for the Airhogs.
