Former Pirates farmhand joins T-Bones ship

KANSAS CITY, Kan.– The Kansas City T-Bones announced today that the club has signed right-handed pitcher Miguel Rosario for the for the 2018 season.

Miguel Rosario comes to Kansas City after six years with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization where the native of La Vega, Dominican Republic reached AA in 2017.  In 27 games in the Eastern League with Altoona, Rosario went 3-1 with a 1.80 ERA in 27 relief appearances and three saves. The right hander would close out the season at High A Bradenton in the Florida State league with a 4.85 ERA in 13 innings. 

Rosario began his career in 2012 as a non-drafted free agent by Pittsburgh where he would split time between both Pirates teams in the Dominican Summer League. With the rookie Pirates he worked a combined 6.2 innings with a 2.70 ERA in 6.2 innings and six strike outs. 

In 2013 he made his stateside debut appearing in 15 games (five starts) at rookie level Gulf Coast, tossing 42.1 innings with a 3.61 ERA and a record of 1-1.  The following season Rosario made the jump to low A West Virginia in the South Atlantic league, working in 7.1 relief innings with a 6.14 ERA. He was moved down to the New York-Penn League and would go 2-2 with a 3.27 ERA in 20 games for Jamestown. For the Jammers, Rosario struck out 46 in 44 innings and added a save.

Rosario opened 2015 at low A West Virginia in 2015, tossing 25.2 innings in nine games with a 2-0 record. He would make two starts and record his only complete game of his career for the Power.  He would then move up to high A Bradenton in the Florida State League and make 29 relief appearances for the Marauders, striking out 56 in 49.1 innings with a 3-3 record and three saves. 

The 2016 season saw Rosario split time between high A Bradenton and AA Altoona. In 42 relief outings combined at both stops, he would go 3-3 in 64.1 innings with 55 strike outs and a 2.24 ERA. He threw 30.2 at high A with a 2.64 ERA and another 33.2 frames at AA Altoona with a 1.87 ERA.
