Rain shortened Friday evening's contest between the T-Bones and the Schaumburg Flyers. The game was called with two outs in the top of the seventh with the T-Bones leading 7-2 and with Flyer center fielder Jason Fitzgerald at the plate.

T-Bone starter Nick Webb made his third start of the season and came out of the gates a little shaky. In the first, the lefty had a difficult time locating the strike zone surrendering a walk, three hits and two runs.

Down early, and before mother nature intervened, the T-Bone offense exploded for six runs in the third. KC batted around, and the inning was highlighted by Chad Sosebee's second home run of the season giving the T-Bones a 5-2 advantage. Center fielder Rick Prieto finished off the frame with an RBI single extending the margin to 6-2.

The runs were more than enough support for Webb. After the rough start, Webb went into cruise control and pitched six strong innings allowing only six hits and striking out six. He outdueled Flyer lefty Rick DeHart, who struck out five of the first nine batters he faced before the rough third inning. DeHart wound up with a complete game in the rain-shortened affair.

The T-Bones got contributions from two familiar faces, with Rick Prieto finishing a triple short of the cycle while driving in two runs and Ray Brown smacking two hits and driving in two runs.

The T-Bones and Flyers are slated to hook up tomorrow night at 7:05 pm, with Caleb Balbuena on the hill for Kansas City and Raymond Jenkins for Schaumburg. It's a Fireworks Spectacular presented by Roger Smith and Sons Toyota and Metro Sports.
