KANSAS CITY, Kan.– The Kansas City T-Bones announced today that the club has signed infielder Angel Rosa for the 2018 season.

“I am excited to add a very good player with great flexibility to the roster, one who can play everywhere in the infield,” said Manager Joe Calfapietra.

Angel Rosa comes to Kansas City from Bridgeport in the Atlantic League, where the native of Puerto Rico hit .218 in 66 games with two home runs and 16 RBI for the Blue Fish. He appeared in 44 games at second base and in another 13 at shortstop in 2017. Rosa also added another three games in the field at third base and appeared in one game as a pitcher.  Rosa began 2017 with the AA Mobile Bay Bears of the Southern League playing in 15 games hitting .184 before his release from Anaheim.

Rosa was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 13th round in the 2013 June draft out of Alcorn State University, and he spent four seasons in the “halos” system reaching the AAA level.

In 2016, Rosa saw time at three different leagues for Anaheim. He played in three games in the California League at Inland Empire going 2-for-12 but saw the bulk of his action at the next two stops. At AA Arkansas in the Texas League, Rosa played in 54 games hitting .182 with two long balls and 11 RBI, and he played another 47 games at AAA Salt Lake City in the Pacific Coast League, hitting at a .203 clip with four homers and 13 runs driven in.

Rosa again split time in 2015 with 78 games at High A Inland Empire, hitting .252 and seeing action in another 13 games at AAA Salt Lake City, hitting .333. He would hit three home runs with 46 RBI combined that season.

In 2014 Rosa made two stops in A ball with 99 games at Low A Burlington in the Midwest League, hitting .246 with a career high seven home runs and 46 RBI and moving up to High A Inland Empire for another 28 games, going 39-for-124 with 18 RBI and a .348 average.

In his first season with the Angels organization, Rosa split time between Orem in the Pioneer League, hitting .278 in 14 games, and he added another 37 games at Midwest League Burlington, hitting a pair on “dingers” and 18 RBI while carrying a .270 average during his stay in Iowa.

Rosa was born in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico and attended the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy before playing three seasons at Alcorn State. He played in 190 games in college, earning 12 home runs and 126 career RBI. Rosa has also logged parts of three winter ball seasons in Puerto Rico. For his career Rosa has a .963 fielding percentage and is 46-for-60 in stolen base attempts.
