T-Bones Announce 2018 Schedule

10/30/2017 1:07 PM -

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones have announced their 100-game schedule for the 2018 season. The team is set to open the season on the road at Wichita on May 18th with the home opener and opening night on tap for May 22nd against Gary SouthShore.

“I can’t wait to get back on the field, and I know our staff and team feel the same way.  The release of the schedule today starts the process,” said T-Bones Vice-President and General Manager Chris Browne.

Prior to the regular season, the team will host home exhibition games against Gary May 9th and 10th and vs Winnipeg May 14th, 15th and 16th.

The 2018 season will feature a new two-division format down from three. The T-Bones will be joined by former South Division teams in Wichita, Cleburne and Texas, along with previous Central Division rivals Lincoln and Sioux City, to make up the new Southern Division of the American Association.  Gary SouthShore will join expansion Chicago in the Northern Division with long-time league members St. Paul, Sioux Falls, Fargo and Winnipeg, rounding out the other division.

The team will also play a balanced schedule, facing each Southern Division club in four series of two home and two away, and a home and away series with each member club of the Northern Division.  The top two teams from each division will meet in the best-of-5 semifinals, with the winners meeting in the best-of-5 championship series.

“I like the new division set up and balanced schedule—and I know Joe [Calfapietra] and our baseball staff feel the same way,” added Chris Browne.

All 11 American Association opponents, including the league’s newest addition, the Chicago Dogs, will visit CommunityAmerica Ballpark in 2018. Additionally, the T-Bones will travel to each club during the season. Fans will not have to wait long to see the new division format right out of the gate as the team will hit the road for a three-game series to open up the season at Wichita on May 18th.  Following an off-day, Kansas City will welcome the Gary SouthShore RailCats to town for a three-game series and opening day on May 22nd.

The club will celebrate the Independence Day holiday with games on July 3rd and 4th, facing Sioux Falls as part of the 50-home game schedule. The month-by-month breakdown of the 50 home games: May (3), June (13), July (16), August (18) and September (0). The T-Bones will have seven weekend series at home and 29 home games in June and July and 18 dates at home in August, eight more than the team had in 2017.

The T-Bones will have two nine-game homestands both coming in the second half of the season from July 20th to July 29th, and the final homestand of the season runs from August 23rd to August 31st.

The final official game times will be released later in the month, and the full season and nightly promotions calendar will be announced later this offseason.
