Hunter Named Player of The Week

Sioux City, IA – The American Association has announced that for the second time this season, Kansas City T-Bones outfielder Cedric Hunter is the league’s Pointstreak Player of the Week.

Cedric Hunter went 11-for-23, hitting .478 for the week, helping Kansas City go 4-2 as a team. Hunter hit two home runs and drove in six while scoring seven runs for the T-Bones in six games. That number includes a 3-for 4 night against Cleburne, where he drove in four with a homer in a 9-4 T-Bones win. He also stole two bases this past week and added three walks. Friday night in Gary his solo shot helped ignite 12 hit outburst for Kansas City in an 8-0 win over the RailCats.

Hunter is currently riding an eight-game hitting streak (13-for- 30) after going 3-for-5 on Sunday at Gary. He has 12 multi-hit games out of his 35 games played for Kansas City. Hunter also was the Player of the Week ending July 30th after his first week with the T-Bones.  For the season, the center fielder is batting .336 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs.

The Decatur, Georgia native joined Kansas City on July 21st, from AAA Louisville from the Cincinnati Reds organization and came to Kansas City with an impressive baseball resume. Hunter has played in parts of 12 professional seasons, including 19 games in the Major Leagues with the San Diego Padres and the Philadelphia Phillies. Hunter, was the 3rd round selection by the San Diego Padres in the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft out of Martin Luther King  High School in Lithonia, Georgia.

The T-Bones just wrapped up a 2-1 series win at Gary on Sunday and continue their final road trip of the year with the first game of a four-game series at Sioux City Monday night. The team currently sits a half game behind Fargo-Moorhead for the Wild Card Playoff spot in the American Association.
