T-Bones Drop Series to RailCats

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones dropped their second of three games against the Gary SouthShore RailCats, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

With the T-Bones holding onto just a half a game lead for the wild card spot, this game was crucial for both extending their wild card lead and taking the series.

Gary would start things off, however, with a solo home run from shortstop, Ryan Fitzgerald, for a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

Kansas City was unable to respond in the following inning as the RailCats added a second home run in the fourth inning for a 2-0 lead. Third baseman, Kris Goodman, launched the second solo home run of the game to extend Gary’s lead.

The third time was the charm for the RailCats as the notched their third solo home run of the afternoon in the fifth inning, this time, center fielder, Chase Harris, notched the hit to put Gary up by three.

As the game went on, it appeared as if home runs would be the only way to score this afternoon. The T-Bones were finally able to get on the scoreboard with a solo home run from third baseman, Jordan Edgerton. Kansas City trailed 3-1 going into the sixth inning.

The T-Bones would not be able to contribute any more runs on the day, however, and fell 3-1 to to the RailCats to regain the lead in the wild card fight.

Gary’s right-handed pitcher, Daniel Minor, picked up his first win with the RailCats (1-0, 3.55), while righty, Gabe Perez (7-6, 4.74) tossed the loss for Kansas City. Right-handed pitcher, Drasen Johnson (3-4, 1.92) got the save for the RailCats.

The T-Bones will continue their six game home stand, beginning a new series with the Cleburne Railroaders at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Bring out the kids and enjoy Kids Eat Free night!

Right-handed pitcher, Calvin Drummond (6-2, 4.77), will start off on the mound to begin the series with the Railroaders.
