Cleburne, Texas. – The American Association has announced that Kansas City T-Bones outfielder Cedric Hunter is the league’s Pointstreak Player of the Week and right-handed pitcher Matt Sergey is the Poinstreak Pitcher of the Week.

Cedric Hunter joined the T-Bones on July 21st, during the last home stand and jumped right in, making a big impact for Kansas City. He had a game-tying RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth on Saturday night then a walk-off game-winning double off the “mini monster” in left to help seal a 2-1 win and a no-hit win for Matt Sergey on Thursday in game one of a double header, both against Texas. He followed with a 2-for-3 night in game two on Thursday night and added a home run in the 6-2 win on Friday night.

Hunter went 8-for-16 with a home run, a double and five RBIs as Kansas City took all four games of the series against the AirHogs. The Decatur, Georgia native joined Kansas City from AAA Louisville from the Cincinnati Reds organization and comes to Kansas City with an impressive baseball resume. Hunter has played in parts of 12 professional seasons, including 19 games in the Major Leagues with the San Diego Padres and the Philadelphia Phillies. Matt Sergey tossed the first no hitter for Kansas City and the second consecutive walk-off no hitter in the American Association last Thursday night in game one of a doubleheader against Texas. In the 2-1 win, the Florida native walked two while striking out 10 and got the win when teammate Cedric Hunter drove the winning runs in on his RBI double.

Sergey began this season with the Stockton Ports in the High A California League for the Oakland Athletics. He was 1-0 with a 3.48 ERA in eight relief appearances out west. The right-hander is no stranger to the American Association.  He began the 2016 season with Laredo and was part of a Championship winning club in 2015.

Sergey spent 2014 with Washington in the Frontier League and tossed the first perfect game in the 22-year history of the league on August 24, 2014.
