National Pro Fastpitch headed to KC

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – CommunityAmerica Ballpark and the National Pro Fastpitch will attempt to set a new women’s pro fastpitch attendance record as they attempt to ‘Pack the Park, hosting a three-game series between the USSSA Pride and Texas Charge July 10th-12th

The USSSA Pride currently lead the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) with a 12-2 record and are equipped with some of the most offensive powerhouses in the league. The USSSA Pride talent includes two-time Olympian and reigning back-to-back NPF MVP Kelly Kretschman out of the University of Alabama, Sierra Romero, the 2016 NCAA Player of the Year and NPF homerun & RBI leader from the University of Michigan, and NCAA career home run record holder Lauren Chamberlain from the University of Oklahoma.

The Texas Charge roster features Taylor Gadbois  from the University of Missouri, who leads the NPF in stolen bases; Katiyana Mauga out of the University of Arizona, who is right behind Chamberlain in NCAA career homerun numbers; Lauren Haeger from the University of Florida, who became the first NCAA athlete to win 70 career games pitching and hit 70 career homeruns, and recent Women’s College World Series (WCWS) stars Delanie Gourley from the University of Florida  and Bailey Landry out of LSU.

Monday night’s game will see record crowds, bringing together 250 teams participating in the USA Elite Select World Fastpitch Championship as well as the local KC fastpitch community for a celebration of the sport before competition begins on Tuesday. Monday night will also feature a special appearance by two time Olympian and three-time national player of the year Cat Osterman, who will also address the crowd in attendance.

Following each game both teams will be available for autographs and to meet and greet fans in attendance at the ballpark.  Gates will open at 6:00pm and first pitch is at 7:05pm for all three nights.
